It’s noisier than the 4 other 2U Powervaults, Cisco switches etc all together. Mine is insanely loud, but I only hear it when I’m in the server room not often so it doesn’t bother me enough to do anything about it. The drive itself isn’t noisey, but there is a small fan in the back of the chassis that is by far the loudest thing in my rack, including 1U servers with little screamer fans in them. How safe is doing so in a Powervault T?
You may have to splice the wiring if it’s a weird connector.

It’s quite loud from the second you power up the drive, whether you’re running backups or not. I can’t find any powrrvault that indicate a thermal control on the fan, but the external half-height PVT on our backup server is as loud as the mm fan in the tower itself.
